When a child is sexually abused, it is not just their bodies that are harmed. Child abuse has long-lasting effects on a person's mental and physical health. The effects of child abuse can feel overwhelming. Survivors of abuse may experience feelings of abandonment, lack of self-worth, and loneliness that filter into all parts of their life.
But you don't have to suffer in silence. In Survivor: The Becky King Story, Becky shares her personal journey of childhood abuse which resulted in fragmenting her personality. Becky struggled for five decades with Dissociated Identity Disorder before she was diagnosed.
Becky struggled through decades of debilitating depression. Despite her disorder, she still found ways to rise above the clouds and to soar as a mother, a pilot, and now a storyteller.
In this intimate memoir, Becky shares her journey of self-discovery. Her life story is about learning how to thrive through:
Becky shares with readers her unique journey with different modes of therapy and the therapeutic support that finally helped her integrate.
Becky's memoir is still in development. Support Becky's efforts to continuing crafting her memoir so that she can share it with the world.
At 64 years old, Becky King was looking forward to nomadic adventures to see the world with her husband and best friend, Andy, when she was hit with a startling revelation that turned her life upside down. Becky, who had spent a decade working through her tumultuous childhood and how it resulted in her Dissociative Identity Disorder, thought she had met all of the alters that had cycled in and out of her life. That is until Rage showed up to seize Becky from her peaceful life of grandmotherly duties. Held hostage by Rage, Becky hurricanes through her life, tumbling faster down the sidewalk of her childhood than she can handle until she is 5150’d and forced to meet Rage’s ultimatum: find justice…or die.
